View Full Version : Wrapped Screen??

I've noticed that a stored show plays back with the screen "wrapped" - a black bar running across the screen with the bottom portion of the screen playing in the bottom half and the top in the other. It looks very similar to the "roll" that old TV's used to get, but is constant through the viewing of the show.

When I first saw this, I thought maybe it was a random problem or the show was broadcast this way, but I've now noticed this on 2 shows. Neither of these shows was HD or even on digital cable for that matter. Has anyone else seen this?

If it was a roll, the top half of the picture would be on the bottom of the screen and vice versa.
Sounds to me like an encoder problem or a problem at the source if it was the same channel for both shows.

Next time this happens try changing the output resolution of your TiVo and see if it helps. This will tell you if it's a decoder problem or a problem with the transmission.

i have seen something similar on my S2 actually.

My s2 is fed by a moto HD box. ABout a month ago my WNBC started doign the local news in HD. I record the HD version everynight. probably 3 nights a week mid way through the recording I get something like you describe buyt it is left to right.

It happens on no other NBC HD channel recordings. ANd on no other HD channels. If I change the cablebox channel and then go back it fixes it self. I haven't had the time to confrim yet- but since it never happens on anything but that one show- I think it's a problem with the broadcaster sending something that freaks out the mto box. NExt time it happens I'll try to grab the input directly to the tv and not through the tivo and confirm it's not the S2.

is it the same channel all the time for you?
