Product Watch?

Under the Music, Photos, & More section tonight I noticed a new entry, Product Watch. I click on it and find out, one it works! I mean WOW something here actually works, well kinda. I get this nice little message how the 'service' is an opt-in kind of thing. And directs me to tivo.com/manage and tells me I need to enable video downloads. Yet when you visit the manage section I find out Enable Video Download is "Not currently available"!

Why must TiVo keep giving me things I can't use. First all those Yahoo! apps, podcaster that doesn't seem to work right, the CBS Fantasy thing (seems to be gone now), the movie reel things... and now this.

I'm starting to loose faith in TiVo and I starting to see why the company has problems turning a profit... not to mention the whole shipping ficos.

They all work on my box. Go figure.

They all work fine on mine as well. Are you sure your box is hooked up to your Internet connection correctly?

None of the internet apps work on my S3. They all still work fine on the S2. I have been having other problems with my S3, and TiVo is exchanging it. Hopefully that will correct the problem. And, yes, I have tried bypassing my router and going directly into the cable modem from the S3, but the internet apps still didn't work.

do you have your TiVo hooked up to an always-on network?

I use the TiVo G2 to connect to my wireless system. Could that be the difference?

They all work fine on mine as well. Are you sure your box is hooked up to your Internet connection correctly?
Oh yes, positive. I have receive my network connection via the cable company and at my tier I receive three IP address. My cable modem goes to a linksys switch and one drop goes to the TiVo another to the VOIP box and I have one more going to my wiFi router.

I receive my daily/nightly scheduling updates just fine.

I would probably change that. No need to subject your TiVo to all of the attacks that come in over an unfiltered internet connection. Plus, with it setup that way your computer will never be able to talk to the TiVo.

I'm just using this set up for two reasons... one why add a second layer of complexity* when things just don't work yet. Once everything works the way it should then I'll move it to a more secure network (most likely the VOIP network). Second I don't care if the TiVo talks to the computer. I payed for the Home Media on my series 2, and never used it. All my music is files are AAC and I'm not looking to view slide shows on my TiVo... not to mention I have a computer connected to my HDTV for watching xvid files.

* plus honestly how many people are looking to attack a tivo box? Nearly all the traffic the box gets is port scanning and various windows attacks.
