The TiVo peanut remote came with a DVR 1/2 switch with most Series 2 TiVos. I believe that the Series 3 remote also has one.

I am not sure about a 1/2 switch, but I bought 2 Logitech Harmony 520 remotes for the new house we move into in November... one for downstairs and 57inch TV with D*Tivo and Onkyo amplifier, and the other for upstairs theater with HR10-250 D*Tivo and Sony projector and another Onkyo amplifier

I've never seen such a switch on a remote that came with a directv receiver with tivo. You may have it confused with the non tivo directv dvrs.

Sams Club has the Harmony 676 on sale for $99 right now. That is a great remote that can control all functions of the Tivo systems I believe, plus all of your other components.

I vote for an universal remote. Most people have more than just TiVos and TVs to control. I have the Harmony 628 and it controls three TiVos (HDTiVo and 2 SD TiVos), the AV receiver, the HDTV, a DVD player and a DVD recorder. Oh yeah and a DirecTV HD receiver.

This is the remote for the plain vanilla TiVO which works just fine for a DTiVO. Weaknees.com has them at <http://www.weaknees.com/tivo-peanut-remote.php> it is the recomended one with the DVR1/DVR2 switch. I have one and it works just like the one that came with the unit. Doesn't appear to work with Sony though.

I have the Radio Shack/UEI Kameleon and it does multiple TiVos as well. It is upgradable over the phone you need to ask for the correct codes when you call in to get your codes upgraded I had to research them here but you just need to see this post <http://www.tivocommunity.com/tivo-vb/printthread.php?t=321309&p=4474526>. I got it for $50 at Micro Centre and it came with a bulit in finder and page button.

That is true. For some reason, the Sony TiVos used a different remote with different codes. All the other TiVos and Directivos can use the same remote. There are some slight differences across the line (like the DVD units have a few extra buttons.)

The SD-H400 uses another remote codeset also.
