Hi, I just wanted to see if you guys could help me solve a problem that I've had with my R10's peanut remote controlling my Sony TV. It has trouble turning my TV on and off. It takes about 6-8 pushes of the power button before the TV responds. The remote is also weak on controlling the volume and video input. The Sony remote works fine as do other universal remotes.
Is there another code to use, I used all of the Sony codes? Is there a different remote I can buy that works just as good as the peanut for the Tivo but would also work great for my Sony TV?
Thanks in advance for you help.

When was the last time you put new batteries in the remote?

I've tried new batteries several time with no change. It controled my very old Sony fine, but the problem started with my new Sony then I got it. It's a CRT SD 32" Trinitron.
Thanks, Jason

I had the same problem. every time the remote was non-responsive a quick whack to my knee would fix it. New batteries solved the problem.

Check and clean the IR sensor on the front of the Sony set. Maybe there is something on the lens interfereing with the signal from the remote?

I have a 32" Sony TV (I'll bet it is the same model) and several peanuts remotes as well. All of the remotes behave the same way with this particular Sony TV. I also have a newer 34" wide screen Sony TV that does not suffer the same problems. I have yet to find a cause or solution.

I experience the same problem but only with the remote that came with my R10. The remote that came with my late HDVR2 can control the TV (and Pioneer receiver) with no problem. Instantly.
I have replaced the batteries, have cleaned IR senders and sensors, have went through *all* the Sony codes (I find that 0238 works best for my TV).

I also have the same problem with my 32" Sony. My 51" has no problems at all with the remote. But when I turn the 32" on or off it takes several attemtps to work.
