Good Morning:
I need some assistance from all of you smart folks - last night my son went to the Now Playing screen on our HD DirecTivo, selected his show and hit play. When it started he says the screen just went blue (default for no video). I am under the assumption that he presses either a button and/or a series of buttons to force an event making the screen go blank - however I do not know what he did, or even how to get it back.
While messing around with it, I placed the unit in standby and rebooted by unplugging the unit. When I plugged it back in, nothing came up on the screen not even the "Downloading info from the satellite). I realized that no lights were on on the front of the unit and pressed the tivo button to take it out of Standby. Still nothing.
I pulled the RGB cables and plugged in a DVD player - TV works OK. When I plugged back in the RGB, I accidently mixed the red and green. Before I realized what I did and still receiving no picture, I went to check all of my cables. Once I noticed the red and green were swapped, I switched them back. Once I did that, the screen finally came up, clear as a bell.
No problems the remainder of the night.
However, this morning, my 1 yr old got ahold of the remote, and now (you guessed it) no screen. My wife tried all of the things that I did last night, but still no video.
Does anyone know what my problem is???? Right now she says the format light on the front of the Tivo is in the process of rebooting and that "Format" light is at that 400 number (whatever it exactly is), earlier it was at the 780 (or whatever that specific number is). I always thought it should be at the 1080i selection. Could this be my problem??? She pressed that button, but nothing happens - either because the unit is still rebooting and/or the Tivo knows what setting it is supposed to be in and has chosen what it needs.
I get the felling that a keystroke on the remote has screwed with some settings I know little about.
If the unit is bad, I am screwed. DirecTV is not issuing anymore HDTivos, I hate the DirecTV HD units and I know nothing of the stand alone boxes (a little info please???)
Any information anyone can provide will be greatly appreciated!!!
