View Full Version : What is a "Lucky 200"
As I read posts on this board I keep running into the phrase "Lucky 200". Just wondering what it/they are. From what I read though it doesn't sound like you'd want to be one of them. Are they really lucky or is that phrase just construed with satire?

One of the "lucky 200" first to get S3's from TiVo, whose orders didn't arrive as timely as promised....to put it politely.

I'm one. My two-day-shipping order, placed through tivo.com within hours of release on 9/12, arrived on 9/21.
In the words of our president, you'll soon look back on that delay as simply a comma.

Here we go again.
The "Lucky 200" refers to a group of us that placed orders on Day 1 with Tivo, many with expidited shipping, who had their orders lost from the system and manually re-entered AFTER getting emails saying that our orders had already shipped (if we got an email at all), got charged, sometimes twice, for shipping that was supposed to be refunded and, if we were lucky to get a box shipped at all, got it anywhere from 7-12 days after the original ship date.
We did get apology emails and some received Tivo laptop bags about a week after a note saying they were shipped, even though the packing lists included indicated that the orders hadn't been placed at the time of the original email (much like the original Tivo box problem)
And, because some of us bought boxes at retail when we had no idea if/when the Tivo-ordered boxes would show up, we got to return the Tivo-shipped units, either through RMA or refusing the UPS delivery and now get to fight with Tivo to get the credits for those returns properly reflected on our credit cards.
I don't know if "Lucky 200" is construed with satire, but it certainly has it's roots in sarcasm. :)
