So, the lifetime transfer offer is only good for S3 units purchased from tivo.com, correct?
And I assume that other e-tailers will have better prices on S3 units in Nov-Dec.
To qualify for the offer, the S3 must be purchased by 12/31/06, and activated by 1/31/07.
There is a 30 day return policy.
"If you return the box within 30 days of placing the order on the website, you will receive a full refund on any paid transfer fee and hardware cost. The shipping charge for the return is at your expense. Returns outside of 30 days will not be accepted. If the transfer is cancelled within the first 30 days, the Product Lifetime Service will remain on your old DVR."
If you purchase with American Express, that extends your return window (I think Amex will take the product back if refused by TiVo).
Now - what happens if you purchase the TiVo from Tivo.com for $800, activate it, buy a S3 from amazon.com for a $600 holiday price, and return that unit to Tivo on the 31st day so that Tivo refuses it, but Amex will process your return?
