can i take my tivo to school?

I have some stuff n Egypt on my tivo. Id like to take it to school to show the kids since we are doing a unit on Egypt. The tivo does not need the satelite for me to just plug it in and go to the now playing list and select a show does it?

Can I just plug it in and go as far as what has been recorded?

Just press the big Directv button on top of the remote to bypass the 'searching for satellite' screen during the bootup process.
