Hook: Hi here's my account number, TW says that in it's Adobe cable line up that WNEO is suppose to be available but I don't get anything but a grey screen. Is it available yet.

TW Rep: What channel is that?

Hook: Channel 715

TW Rep: You don't get HD....Oh, I see you have cable cards.

Hook: Yes, I have a TiVo S3

TW Rep: I'm not sure can I put you on hold?

Hook: Sure

TW Rep: I'm not sure that is available but I'd like to schedule someone to come out and take a look for you.

Hook: No that's ok, I'll check with one of my buddies who has a Qam tuner and see if he's getting it. If he is I'll call you back.

TW Rep: Ok sir, could I interest you in geting an upgrade?

Hook: Upgrade to what?

TW Rep: To our DVR

Hook: Ummmm...no thanks, the TiVo S3 is a DVR and it's quite a bit better then yours.

Clueless TW Rep: Oh...OK....I'm sorry about that, anything else I can do?

Hook: Nope have a good day.

Now you would think that these reps would by now have a clue to what the TiVo S3 is. Still no information being passed on. Sad.

I had a similarly clueless call to Charter yesterday. I use their electronic paperless billing option. Yesterday I got an alert that my bill was ready to view online, so I went to check it out to see if my recent CableCARD install was included. At the bottom of the page it had a little blurb that said something about a lineup chang taking effect on 10/17 and that a copy of the new lineup was included with the bill. Well I don't actually get a paper bill, and there was no link to the new lineup on the eBill, so I had no idea what channels were actually changing. So I called Charter real quick just to find out what channels were changing. The guy put me on hold 3 times in an attempt to find out, then came back and said to check the web site. At this point I just said "whatever, I'll figure it out" and hung up. You'd think that the CSRs would have access to the very basic information of which channels are available for a specific area, but apparently not.

Seems like the appropriate response would be "That would be a downgrade."
