I just came in, switched on the Tivo and am getting a horrible picture.

It's like the vertical hold has gone. I'm getting the picture split in two and lots of sparkly interference.

It affects the Tivo TV picture (the ordinary TV picture is fine), the Tivo menu but not the Live TV Guide!

I have hit the standy button repeatedly but no good.

Any suggestions would be gratefully received.

Double check all your connections around the back to make sure they have not been knocked at all.
What happens if you restart Tivo?

Connections are OK.

I'm not sure how to re-start Tivo! I have used standby to switch it on and off, is that what you mean?

I'm afraid of losing my settings etc.

Voila! That's why we use these forums - Re-start cured it!

I found restart in the menus.
