I wonder if anyone could offer me any advice about getting schedule data via the internet. I have a Tivo whose modem died a while ago in a storm, so I've been trying to switch to getting schedule data via my broadband connection instead. It almost works.
I can telnet into my Tivo, and when I'm at the telnet prompt I can ping my router and also external IP addresses such as (say) the BBC web site, so the IP and Gateway settings are, on the face of it, okay, and the connection is set to 'network' rather than 'modem'. From my reading of previous threads, the general case seems to be that if your Tivo can ping external sites, then getting schedule data should just work, but not for me, alas: test calls always succeed, but every attempt to get schedule data fails with a "Number unavailable" error. Could anyone suggest what I might look for or try changing to resolve this problem? (I should add that my technical expertise is almost zero; I know just enough to follow simple instructions, if they're explained to me slowly. :) )
Many thanks in advance for any advice.
Regards
John
