Guess I've been lucky. First time I have had this kind of problem. I recorded the Bucs game and suddenly in the 3rd quarter my SA Tivo stopped recording.

Oh I'll get the final score in the morning paper or from the morning news. But it's like reading a good mustery novel only to have the last 2 chapters missing and have someone just tell you who dun it.

Did it stop recording because the "show" was scheduled to end (i.e. the network once again failed to schedule enough time for sports) or because of something else?

Could I ask how long the machine was scheduled to record for?

If a game runs over, the TiVo won't keep recording. Once it's told to record for a certain amount of time, that's what it records for if the settings aren't then manually adjusted to record for longer.

It's a dumb machine. Doesn't keep updating its settings for live sporting events.

Word of advice? When programming, "pad" the recording. Tell it to record for a certain amount of time LONGER than what the listings give as the length of the game.

It was mid way through the 3rd quarter. I might understand the padding issue if it was even mid way through the 4th but I would think the guide would have not have listed the end that far off.

Oddly, they were losing when the program cut off and it turns out to be their 1st win all year - and they won by just 1 point. This could be their only victory all year! lol

"network once again failed to schedule enough time for sports"

I guess that's what happened. But like I said, man were they WAY off.

I don't know if you're on cable, but did you lose cable signal? Maybe power went off?

If you still have the recording, look at the duration of it... does it say "Partial"? If it says that, something funky happened. If not, the TiVo thinks it ended normally.

Padding 30 min to an hour is always a good idea for sports. NASCAR and football seem to be the worst offenders.

Just as well, since the ref determined the outcome, not your team. Very sad display with two bad calls in 60 seconds....

It was on cable. Cable rarely goes down here, which is why Vonage works so well for me, and Tivo is on a UPS. But you're right to question power because Progress Energy is horrible about interruptions and outages here.

As for the game, I really wish I'd thought to add that padding now!

lol I guess I understand your perspective. I did get to see the 1st 2 challenges coming early in the game and at least the 1st reversal was a no brainer. It seemed obvious to me before even using slow-mo & freeze.

If it makes you feel any better that well could be their last win for a while and at least you can claim you were robbed. :)

But I am troubled over inconsistant and outright bad calls. One more reason to own Tivo since my 508 is lousy on the still by still reviews. :)

I had somewhat of a similar problem. I had Masterpiece theatre on my todo list on channel 24 (DTV) and when I went to watch tonight there was a Wesley Snipes movie recorded on the I channel. I think this is the first time that this has happened. Hope it isn't a another glitch in this new system software.

Sounds to me your TiVo did absolutely nothing wrong, and instead you let yourself down.

I record Nascar bigtime and always pad the shows by at least 2 hours or more if risk of rain www.weather.com and type zip code :) . Nothing worse than looking forward to seeing a recorded show and being let down. I feel for you dude. Ah what the hell just drink another beer.

I set my Tivo to record last night MNF game between the Bears and Cardinals, and I made sure to pad it for an additional 3 hours to be safe, and when I left for work, the Bears were down 23-3 with 3:45 left int he 3rd quarter and they ended up winning 24-23 and because I padded the game for 3 additional hours, I not only got the end of the game, but also the Sportscenter following it, where I got to see the meltdown by Dennis Green.

For Football, I always pad the max amount allowed for games, because you never know what will happen with the NFL, and I also do the same for MLB games as well.

Perhaps, perhaps not. It always recoreded the games in the past with no problem. So maybe half blame to me for not knowing I needed to pad this game and half to the EPG for being way off the mark. ;)

My first ever TCF post (http://archive.tivocommunity.com/tivo-vb/showthread.php?postid=942694#post942694) was about how I learnt that I needed to pad a game by a whole hour. I'd been padding by half an hour and missed the really interesting part of the game which happened in the 0:34 that I didn't get recorded.

Some networks schedule longer than others for the regular game. They used to do about 3 hours, now I've noticed Fox is doing 3.5 hours. So was this game on an unusual network? That usually means your team was hosting a team from the other league.

I think it was on Fox. That's usually what they're on.

I guess that accounts for why I never noticed before. That, and the fact that the Bucs game is usually all but over by the end of the 3rd quarter these days, except for the last 2. :D
