I'm thinking about purchasing a brand new in box HR10-250. I'm sure it has software version 3.1.5f since its been sitting around at the store for months. I want to hack it using the PTVnetHD but I'm not clear on everything.

1) I take take the drive out of the Tivo and connect to my computer as a primary master and boot using the PTVnetHD image CD right?

2) Then I use Slicer to upgrade the 3.1.5f to 6.3a correct?

That should work fine. Make it easy on yourself and get a USB adapter that is compatible with stock 6.3 drivers.

There's not many usb adapters that are approved. This is the list right?

I lucked out. I found a USB200M Version one at Compusa today. They had 5 but only one with the little orange CD on the package contents listing. :) On sale for $19.99 too. :)
