View Full Version : What's a Lifetimed S1 w/ bad modem worth?

I've got an S1 Unit with lifetime. The modem was fried years ago in a thunderstorm, but I still use it with an external modem. (I don't actually use the tivo, it just gets plugged in every now and again for the service discount.

I'm considering selling it and buying a humax dvdrw unit and putting lifetime on it. Anyone know roughly what I could get for my S1 w/ lifetime?

$300 or so after ebay and paypal fees. Now is the time to sell, that price will drop 40 or 50% after the Series 3 transfer period ends.

Okay, thanks!

Alright, it's up on ebay. If I can clear $300, I'll be most happy with it. :)

Why aren't you seeing about getting a Series 3 and transferring your LIFETIME to the Series 3?

Can't afford it. I'm a poor family man in who works full time and attends college classes full time as well. Maybe someday I'll be wealthy and able to buy a S3, but then, I suppose if I have that much money, the monthly fee won't kill me. :)

Sorry but ebay links are not allowed.

Oh, sorry. Didn't realize.

Out of curiosity, why?

Because we don't allow any marketing links, and self promotion of eBay items is marketing. It's one of those slippery slope type situations.

I'm starting to get nervous... the auction has 2 hours left and is only at $208... Here's hoping for the last minute bidding rush, eh?

Hehe. Good luck with the auction. I'm 5 hours to go with a sony/bad modem and I'm stuck at $175.

Here's hoping for $250-$300.

--Edit-- I see you got $235. damn, that seems low. That's less then what the original lifetime sub cost.

Without the lifetime sub that TiVo would have been worth nothing, so I'd be happy you got what you got. I mean what di you pay for the lifetime sub new? $200-$250? And you got 4-5 years worth of use out of it? Sounds like quite a good deal to me.

Honestly, I paid nothing for it. I traded a working s2 tivo for it, since the original owner was using it w/o service & didn't want to spend money to repair this one.

Well then you ended up ahead, because a used S2 without lifetime is basically worthless.
