I just noticed that Fakecall runs at least 3 or 4 times in a row each night at the same time. I realized this after seeing the 'fakecall made' display on my tv flash consecutively. I checked my cronlogs and it verifies this. It always used to show up just once before upgrading. I just recently upgraded to 6.3a. I also did a couple of reinstalls of the tweak script to try to get 'joe' working. Don't know if that has anything to do with it. Anyone else experiencing this.

Check the cron file for mutiple instances of fakecall. Or multiple files in /var/spool/cron/crond

I didn't want to start a new thread but have a related question. I hope it's ok to continue this discussion from a different angle.
My /var/log/cronlog-main shows this (just a partial snip):
Tue Oct 10 08:54:36 UTC 2006 Fakecall was run successfully, run verified
Tue Oct 10 09:00:14 UTC 2006 Fakecall was run successfully, run verified
Tue Oct 10 09:14:34 UTC 2006 Fakecall was run successfully, run verified
Tue Oct 10 09:23:47 UTC 2006 Fakecall was run successfully, run verified
Wed Oct 11 01:46:52 UTC 2006 Fakecall was run successfully, run verified
Thu Oct 12 04:22:34 UTC 2006 Fakecall was run successfully, run verified
Thu Oct 12 05:52:27 UTC 2006 Fakecall was run successfully, run verified
Mon Oct 16 12:05:57 UTC 2006 Fakecall was run successfully, run verified
Mon Oct 16 05:30:46 UTC 2006 Fakecall was run successfully, run verified
Mon Oct 16 08:23:32 UTC 2006 Fakecall was run successfully, run verified
I don't know why this is running so often. I believe it's only supposed to run once a day. This from the /var/spool/cron/crontabs/root file:
# Run fakecall every night at 10:20pm cst
20 4 * * * tivosh /busybox/fakecall.tcl
I only have one root file in /var/spool/cron/crontabs/.
Earlier today, my unit rebooted. I found in the /var/log/kernel file a lot of stuff, but this is what caused the reboot:
Oct 16 20:20:00 (none) kernel: emulate_load_store_insn: sending signal 10 to tcphonehome(8711)
... lots of stuff between these lines ...
Oct 16 20:20:01 (none) kernel: Tmk Fatal Error: Activity Phone <8711>: unexpected signal 10
So my questions are: are there multiple items invoking fakecall to run? Other than the log file, is there anything I can check to validate it's success?
I really like my caller-id. Since the daily call is the real root problem here, any ideas if I can use my 6.2 SD DTivo on my LAN as the caller-id server, make my 6.3a HD DTivo a client, and perhaps avoid the conflict happening between the network caller-id and modem? If so, any pointers on the documentation to properly configure it?
Thanks very much!
