View Full Version : Tivo to PC transfer won't get entire file???

So my S2 Tivo usually works ok with TivoToGo. I've transfered many files with some
off and on issues, but mostly successes. Lately, I've run into something I can't figure out.

I Tivo'd the first episode of "Heroes" which came to about 1.6GB. I thought my network blinked when I tried a transfer overnight and it stoped at 607MB transfered. The odd thing was/is that it did say that a transfer was interupted. It simply looked like it was done with only 1/2 of the program transfered. Since then, I've tried it on a number of other computers and it always stops at 607Mb with no error.

Then, I tried episode #2 and it stopped incomplete as well with no error message. Is anyone seeing a problem in that TivoToGo doesn't complete transfers consistently for particular programs like this?

I'm just now trying the web/ip method which is working but I'm only up to 135MB so far. I'm hoping it continues to churn right past that 607MB mark.

I also saw a thread making me think I should go in and clear the cache, but I can't find where it is. I looked where the thread said to (Docs .../User/etc....) but I didn't show a "Local Settings" folder. Could it be somewhere else?

HELP!!!!

I've seen this once or twice. It's usually an indication of an error in the actual file. If you play the recording on the TiVo itself I bet there is some sort of glitch in the video or sound right at the point where it stops transferring. Unfortunately there is nothing you can do to fix this if that's the case.

If it's not the case then try pulling the plug on the TiVo and allowing it to reboot. That might help clear up any software problems.

What is the web/ip method? I am having trouble transferring a manually recorded show.

I too would like to know what the WEB/IP method is.....

I am having the same problem with CSI: NY from the other night. Stops after about 135mb (tried it twice). Though now that I have seen this thread, I'll have to try and see tonight if something funky is going on in the video.

Thanks.

Just found the following in another thread:

Try accessing the TiVo using the https://<tivo-ip> address in your browser. The userid is "tivo" without quotes and the password is your Media Access Key.

Can you download a show this way? If so, then the problem is probably a firewall issue on the PC.

I would assume I do not have a firewall issue as it is just one program I am having a problem with. This indicates to me a problem with the file. I'll view the file tonight and also try the above method and see what happens.......

Tried the WEB method, which is nice to know exists, and no go. Went to the actual file on my TiVo and played it. I had pixellation and probably a bad sector at the point of time where it would stop transferring. Oh well.

Yeah I've had that happen once or twice myself, and there is always pixelation where it stops.
