My wireless connection at home keeps "getting lost" which is annoying enough when you're surfing the internet but is REALLY a problem while transferring TiVo files to my computer. Is it possible to wire the PC to the DVR (using a USB cable) to facilitate the download so I don't have to keep reconnecting? That way I could just start the transfer process and walk away. Thanks for your help!

You cannot use a USB cable. However, you can use a wired USB to Ethernet adapter and connect a CAT-5 cable to your network. Alternatively, you could use a crossover cable if you were dedicating the PC to the TiVo.

Instead of using a USB to wireless adapter you could use a USB to Ethernet cable adapter. Just like the wireless adapter you need to use a supported adapter. They are listed on the Tivo web site. You can then connect the Ethernet adapter to your wireless router using an Ethernet cable (usually known as CAT-5 network cable). This cable has 8 pin telephone type connectors on each end. This is probably the best way to do it. TiVo does have a detailed manual on their web site.

Thank you so much! I'm familiar with the difference between USB and Ethernet. I'll check out the Tivo website for instructions. It is SO frustrating to keep losing the connection when I'm trying to transfer to my computer. Thanks again!
