I'd like to get some feedback on how much I can get for my Series 1. Before you tell me to go to Ebay, I've already done that and am having a hard time finding a good match with my upgrades.

I have a Series 1 with a network card installed inside with an Ethernet cable available outside the box. I've added two 128 GB drives. It's like 250 hours of recording time. No lifetime on the unit. Modem is dead. Excellent condition other than that. I've also enabled Telnet and installed Tivoweb.

What is the value for this unit in your opinions?

Thanks!

$75 - $100 and that may be on the generous side.

Given that you can get an new 80 TiVo for free I don't think you could get more than $35-$50 including shipping. I hope you prove me wrong

Free + the cost of service

There is still a viable market for the S1 machines because a lot of people want to record w/o having to pay for it every month.

the main question iscan it do manual recordings without a TiVo subscription or must it be subscribed. That will be the real value and then the hacks are added value on top of that.

It would've been worth a bunch if you had invested in the lifetime service. :(

If you can verify that it works without a subscription (essentially a digital VCR), then you'll do a lot better.

The S1s have some value depending. Like said above, if it has a lifetime sub, its worth alot. They are the only ones that dont need a tivo subscription to function as a digital VCR, which gives them some leverage.

But even with that, an upgraded unit is still only worth $50 or so tops. Thats why i never could sell mine. The HDD inside was worth more than I was being offered for the unit!

It has value if you're willing to ship international...

Pull the network card and sell it by itself. You should be able to get $50 for the network card, and another $25-$50 for the unit itself.
