Just got a second Tivo - added a Series 2 DT to my existing Tivo-branded Series 2. Setup went just fine - it can control both my Comcast Digital cable box as well as straight cable, it's on my wireless network and downloaded it's service update and guide info. The only problem is that I cannot transfer shows between the new and old box.

I can see the old Tivo in the new Tivo's Now Playing list, but when I select it, I get an 0xfff error. It refers me to tivo.com/support but there is very little on this error number there.

I can see the new Tivo in the old Tivo's Now Playing list, but when I select it, I get an error saying that the new Tivo is not enabled for transfers - even though it *is* on the Tivo.com My Account web page.

Also, the new Tivo does not seem to be downloading it's name from tivo.com - it just shows up as "14A8 DVR" (the last 4 of the TSN). And, on the settings page of the new Tivo, the name is blank (again, it is set on tivo.com). There seems to be some issue with the way the new Tivo is getting it's info from tivo.com.

Both Tivos are on a wireless netwrok using the Tivo Wireless G adapter. I have double and triple-checked the TSN's and other setting on tivo.com. I have forced connections (numerous) from both boxes and have restarted both boxes. Both have the latest update (7.3-oth).

The networking "expert" at Tivo support told me to "wait 24-72 hours while the Tivo learns it's new settings..."

Ideas?

You must set up the DVR names and enable transfers for each DVR on the TiVo web site. This information is transferred to the TiVo when the TiVo does its daily call. You can force a call to get this information. You will need to force a call on both TiVos. For some reason, you may need to force (or wait for) a second call for the names to be correct. Once the names show up properly in the System Information screen, transfers should start to work.

Thanks for the reply. Sorry if my original post was not clear, but all of the information on tivo.com is correct - TSN's, DVR names, transfer settings. I have also forced mutiple connects from both boxes, but the new Tivo is not picking up the correct settings (DVR name and transfer setting).

I would suggest you try changing the name of the TiVo on TiVo.com again. Give it some time to get set up (maybe 30 minutes), then force a connection.

The problem might also be something internal in the tivo.com system if you have just recently activated the new TiVo. It may take some time to get things set up, although I am not sure. I set up my MRV long after my units were activated.
