I record this on my HD set and the show is also shown in SD format.
This is an incredible show.. The China episode was better then Italy in my opinion but its amazing to watch either way.
If you love to know about culture and interesting facts but at the same time see the reality of living in another country this show should be on your list.

Saw the first couple of minutes of the Brazil episode in HD.
Three words...
OH....MY....GAWD!!!
The Carnival footage was arguably the most gorgeous stuff I've seen so far on my HDTV.
EDIT: LOVE LOVE LOVED James Spader's narration on the China episode.

I need to set up an SP.
I got the Italy one.
I really want the CHINA episode. Love to know more about China.

FYI, I don't think a SP will help. Each location's segment has that location in the title, so they're not considered the same program by the Tivo.

If at all possible (and you have a Series 3), try to get the HD versions. Even when it's not Carnival, it's still GORGEOUS.

Yes I also suggest getting the HD broadcast if possible.
The china episode was awesome in my opinion. I did not get to watch the Brazil one yet but slated for a viewing this week.

I only watched the China one because I was interested in China. Hope the olympic girl makes it.

I wish I had this channel on my cable lineup. From the commercials for it, it sure looks pretty awesome.

I just finished the Italy one. I loved that they had Isabella Rossellini narrate the episode.

If the China one is the one I saw, I saw it as precursor to Discovery Canada's China Week, where they (pre) did a week of Daily Planet from China. I'dd keep an eye otu for the others though.

I heard about this from an industry analyist. Set it up, haven't watched them yet. They are all 'specials', so no SP on the Tivo. There are only four (Australia, Brazil, China, Italy). Russell Crowe narrates the Aussie one.

Hey, not fair.
If they can get an Italian to narrate the Italy episode and an naturalized Aussie to do the Australia one, they could have gotten a Chinese and a Brazilian to do the China and Brazil programs, respectively.
Sela Ward admitted in an interview that she's never even been to Brazil.
