Had to start a thread for this one. I'm not a big Jerry Lewis fan, but I thought he really captured that character. Well done.

I didn't know Jerry Lewis was in it, so when they first showed in his cardboard box I had no clue who it was. I'm glad he looked a bit better when cleaned up.

I know not all endings are clean and happy, but I would have liked it if they'd mentioned that the bad guy's rape kit was in the bag he was carrying when he took his dive.

Jerry Lewis can be good in a dramatic role. I was always a fan of Wiseguy and Jerry played a take-no-crap owner of a garment factory one season that was great.

Great ending with Jerry Lewis putting himself in his own confinment.

Am I the only one who noticed that a homeless, dirty Jerry Lewis still had gleaming white teeth?

About half way through Jerry Lewis being in the show I realized .... oh ya, duh that's Jerry Lewis.

You know, oddly, I didn't notice, and this is one detail that usually drives me nuts in TV and movies.

so do you really need a warrant to search a box on a public street?

The box was enclosed and nothing was in plain sight; I can see a defense lawyer making a motion for anything discovered without a warrant being poisonous fruit due to the enclosed box being declared a domicile; they'd either need permission to enter or a warrant.

Rather absurd at first blush, but anything not in plain sight is subject to the rules of proper evidence gathering... assuming the defense could get the judge to declare the box private property.

what if they were helping an ailing person (he had blood on him i think) and inadvertantly saw inside an uzi in his box?

There was an episode of Law and Order where the evidence was tossed out because Lenny and his partner searched a homeless persons box/home in Central Park without getting a warrant first. I don't remember any more of the plot or title

He had blood on him, but he was conscious and did not actually request help. If he had yelled out for help or the bloody part of him had been hanging out of the blankets, then that's exigent circumstances which is an approved exception.

I absolutely didn't recognize the homeless uncle once they got him cleaned up. I'm like, "who is this guy???" It was nice to see Jerry Lewis and see him in a dramatic role. He did a good job.

Edit: He had a certain professionalism, a command of the role, that you don't see on the screen in actors of later generations.

Something else I noticed too (besides his startlingly white teeth) was that when Elliott was helping him stand, Elliott had not gloves on but was holding his bloody hand. Ewww!!!

There are several terms for that:
Perjury
Felony
Immediate discharge for cause
Inadmissible

Probably a few more, but those are the ones that come to mind.

I'm not exactly sure why, but I'm feeling somewhat unimpressed with Connie Neilsen as an actress in this role.

She's definitely no Olivia!!

bu..bu..but they always do that in L/O so it must be legal. Finding kidnap victims and the like

I was also upset that they did not confirm or deny that the guy that got hit by the train was guilty. I am sure they we are to believe that he was, but then again, IT IS L&O, and you can't assume anything. Other than that I thought it was a great episode, and Jerry Lewis did a very good job playing a man with those conditions. Great acting...but was it acting? He IS getting pretty damn old ;)

I think the larger issue is that it didn't matter if he was or not, it wouldn't excuse pushing him under a train, so why even point it out one way or another?

Well, while they did leave that a bit vague, he was guiltly... this was one of those "we got the right guy, but we don't have the evidence to make it stick" kind of things. If he wasn't guilty, they would have incorporated that into the end. I remember some other "revenge killing" eps that have revealed that the revengee wasn't guilty...

I too thought Lewis did a fine job as well. He sure plays a good partially loony-tunes old dude. Wait a second... did he even know he was on a show? heh...
