I have an s3 with HDMI out to my Pioneer 1130HD.
The 1130HD has an optical out to my Yamaha YSP-1000
My problem is that I must use an optical audio cable to connect the Tivo S3 directly to my YSP-1000. WHY?
Why can't the HDMI handle the sound into the Pioneer and then the optical out from that to the YSP handle the audio?
The same issue exists for my DVD recorder. HDMI to Pioneer, and Optical Audio as well.
My uynderstanding is that the PIONEER should split the sources to output the video to the display, and audio to the optical... so I would have one audio connector to the YSP.
Bothers me that I need to use two cables to do what HDMI is capable of doing. Any ideas?
