Tivo barely accepting commands

On one of our S2 nightlight with upgraded 250 gig WD hard drive.

Been upgraded for like 5 months now and 0 problems (actually faster than my other upgraded 250 gig WD one)

Just this morning it takes like 50 clicks of a button to get it to do something,
I have:
Restarted it
Put the remote right up next to it and nothing different
tried other tivo remotes

no clue what is going on, it's not acting slowly cause some commands never hit the tivo, pain in the butt.

any ideas???

Reboot the TiVo, Replace batteries in remote, shield TiVo from lights.

Hmmm now it works, no idea why?!?!?!

oh well, it works again, worked like an hour after a reboot.

Maybe you had IR interference from a stuck button on another remote (not necessarily a TiVo remote).
