I recevied 6.3a on 10/3 and the first night it rebooted while I was creating a new SP. I was messing around with SP's tonight and it rebooted four times. Each time I was creating or changing a SP. WTF - is this new feature
I have a 14 month old stock HR10-250, no upgrades, no hacks. I went from 3.1.5f to 6.3a last week. Never had a problem with reboots on 3.1.5f.
Anyone else notice this unique behavior?
Edit - I notice it reboots when I am creating a new manual recording. As soon as I select the last item (end time) and select schedule recording..... Boom, it reboots. I can recreate this with some regulariity.
Note: I am creating manual recording to overcome missing guide data for my local NBC HD OTA channel (KOAA 5-1). I have contacted D* many times requesting this be corrected with little success.

Just a guess, but as I don't recall anyone else with this particular problem, it sounds like your database is corrupted. When you get into part of the scheduling process, be it for an SP or manual recording, it goes to read or write from part of the database, gets unexpected results and crashes.
From what I understand, the upgrade to 6.3a does go through a conversion process to change the database structure to allow for the new, faster access method to speed up the grid guide. Something could have gone wrong with your conversion.
If this is actually the case, a clear and delete all would likely get you back up and running normally, as painful as that may be to do.

Yes, C&D was my plan for this weekend, after I get past the recordings for this week. I also need to archive a few programs. thanks for the tip.

Is your unit hacked by chance? I had this same issue when creating wishlists and on the last step ..boom...reboot..it was still there after the reboot. I haven't tried setting any up since but since then also no reboots of any kind.

Sounds like my SA8300. Sometimes I turn it on and it reboots!
sorry. thread hijack.

I have been experiencing a similar problem. My unit is not hacked and I went from 3.1.5f to 6.3a on 10/3. No problem with reboots prior to the upgrade; however, since the software upgrade, it has rebooted on its own 5 times (that I know of). 4 of the reboots occured while I was watching live tv; the fifth occured while the unit was recording. Going to give DirecTV a call tonight and see what happens... I'm guessing not too much.

Well, mine is interesting in that it only reboots when I create a new manual recording. It's also funny/good that once it has restarted, the new manual recording is there (lucky me). So, if D* can ever figure out how to get me guide data on my HR10-250 for NBC (KOAA 5-1) then I can stop using manual recordings and avoid the problem. I never used these before this OTA HD channel was introduced and the missing guide data forced me to use the feature.
I remember when my HRDVR2 did this with 6.2, it would do random reboots with no pattern. This is an odd one on the HR10.

I'm having basically the same problem (here in Colo Springs) but with setting up regular Season Passes. Machine reboots after enting info, then when it comes back up, Season Pass is at the bottom of the list. Does this with EVERY Season Pass I set up on the new 5-1 NBC-HD channel. Quite annoying!!

I am now seeing this on any SP, not just manual recordings. So if there are others seeing this, I doubt it is a bad HD on my HR10. Another poster in the main 6.3a problem thread did a C&D everything and says it helped, but I suspect it's just a matter of time before it reoccurs.

Well, I finally did a C&D everything after archiving a few programs to DVDR. Who knows if this will do anything good or not, but it's worth a shot? I only had about 2 pages of programs, so no big loss. All I was experiencing was the reboots when creating a SP and the occasional audio drop out.
Now I get to add in all my SPs and see how it goes.
