Can someone explain what happened in one scene?

Gibbs showed the bullet to the Russian,, turned to the two-way mirror with an odd expression on his face, McGee told Tony that Tony deserved a reward, and Tony told McGee that's the closest he'd ever get.

I just don't get it ... what exactly did Tony do? McGee found the bullet after digging through the vomit ... not Tony. Was a scene cut where Tony took credit for it or something?

I'm stumped.

I believe he just meant that's the closest McGee would get to a medal for that act, not that Dinozzo was trying to take credit for anything... for once, not being smug...

Yes, that's the second time there's been a morally questionable act. The first one was very similar, involving an almost identical situation with an organized crime boss. They basically set him up to be killed by his men.

retirement, fix up the ole house in Mexico. I'm assuming that. If Gibbs let him get away with shooting him, don't see why he'd stop him from taking the money. But last we saw of it, it was in the bar.

I'm hoping that they aren't just dropping the problem between Ducky and Gibbs, because they didn't show anything on it last night, and the had plenty of opportunity to.

And Tony's response meant that while McGee wouldn't get any medals, Gibbs approval was almost as good (and probably harder to come by); and McGee should be proud he received that.

Yea, I wsn't fooled either. I knew there would be nothing on that tape. And I knew what Franks was doing way early. I love the show and it was a good episode, just too predictable for me. And I am usually awful at predicting those things.

Llwellyn, SoldOnTivo, JonathanS: Thanks. Even after replaying the scene five times I kept hearing McGee say "you deserve a medal" to Tony, so none of what followed made sense....

What you wrote, on the other hand, does make sense, so I'm off to buy some ear-wax remover! :D
