Ortiz vs. Shamrock 3 plus some guys from Ultimate Fighter 3. Not sure how many of the 9 matches we'll see, but I'm padding an extra hour just in case it runs long.

Thanks for the heads up! I would've missed this otherwise.

The "drama" behind this Ortiz/Shamrock thing is making the UFC look like the WWF. If Dana White wants to supplant boxing, he's got to cut out the cheap theatrics and plots.

The fight went about as expected, but at least this time they did not stop it too soon.

I was glad to see Ken and Tito bury the hatchet after the fight.

I can't wait to see Chuck Lidell fight Tito again in December.

Why did the Lidell/Silva fight get cancelled?

Do you mean Fanklin/Silva? That's Oct 14. I know there are a few Silva's...

The first match was UGLY. Wasted 45 minutes of a 2 hour show with a wrestling match with lots of blood. Matt Hamill has a LONG way to go. Kendal looked great though. Team Punishment with the sweep. His training abilities made me respect him more...until he flicked off Shamrock. I don't like Shamrock, but that was just childish. At least he realized it and apologized.

No I meant Lidell vs Wanderliegh Silva (from Pride Fighting)

It wasn't cancelled, it was just never officially scheduled. They jumped the gun on trying to set it up. PrideFC management and UFC management can't agree on terms, never did set anything up.

Here is some info I found on Wiki (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PRIDE):

PRIDE announced it would cooperate with the Ultimate Fighting Championship, North America's largest MMA organization, and would be showcasing their fighters, including Wanderlei Silva and Kazuyuki Fujita, at a UFC event in November 2006.[4] However, Dana White, president of the UFC, since commented in several interviews that an announced bout between Chuck Liddell and Wanderlei Silva may no longer be happening because "the Japanese are very hard to do business with". Also, since Wanderlei Silva was actually knocked out in his last fight, due to Nevada State Althletic Commission rules he would not be allowed to compete so soon in the UFC [5]. Several other articles in August have the president of the UFC stating that there will be no crossover fights at this time. This is despite the fact that the PRIDE president, Sakakibara Nobuyuki, has suggested a variety of replacement matches in the Japanese media [6].

Who knocked out Wandy? When was the fight? I need to go find a torrent of that one. Edited to add that it was Cro-Cop back in September. Still need to find the torrent.

Mirko "Cro-Cop" Filipovich knocked Wanderlei the funk out in on his way to winning the Open Weight Grand Prix September 10, 2006. You can find the fight on You Tube. Just make sure you find the 2006 fight, not their 2002 fight which ended in a draw.

Zero surprises on the Shamrock/Tito fight. But after the fight, I was surprised that Tito acted as childish as he did. Shamrock, was right, they made a lot of money together.

Liddell/Silva would rock. I would like to see a lot of the heavy weights from PriceFC come into the UFC. Cro-Cop's kicks just look scary.

I absolutely HATE it when fighters say to rivals "We made a lot of money together". Although true, it makes me feel that the whole rivalry was made up from the beginning to draw interest and make $$$. I felt duped after he said that last night.

It was a bummer for me to see Ken get whupped so bad again as he's one of my long time favorite fighters. But, at least now he can retire and be done, even if it means going out with back to back losses. I was glad to see Tito and Ken bury the hatchet and wish Tito had been a little more respectful without needing to be told to do so.

I think that Matt Hammill has no business being in the UFC and honestly cannot believe that he won his fight. He's a sloppy fighter and has the worst technique I think I've ever seen. And this after a year of training with Team Punishment? He better learn to get his hands up and make progress when in the mount or he's going to get the beat down when he finally fights a good opponent. I was also surprised to see how tired he seemed to be near the end of the fight, given his team's cardio workouts.

I'm really, really looking forward to the Silva/Franklin fight. With Franklin coming back from an injury and Silva being such a sharp, technical fighter it should make for a good match. Ditto for the Liddell/Ortiz matchup. I think Liddell is the favorite going into the match, but Tito should be flush from his recent wins and the wins of his teammates. Perhaps this momentum will be enough to turn the tables on Chuck. In any case, the next two PPV events should be very entertaining.

Oh, and I can't wait to see Bisping's next fight as well.

Was it necessary for them to hate each other for you to enjoy watching them beat each other up?

The "drama" behind this Ortiz/Shamrock thing is making the UFC look like the WWF. If Dana White wants to supplant boxing, he's got to cut out the cheap theatrics and plots. It doesn't strike me as made up drama at all. Of course they're going to try to drum up the fight a bit, but I genuinely believe that Tito and Ken hated each other prior to this fight. Going into this fight I think that Ken knew deep down he wasn't going to win, but wanted to at least do another match for the fans. By the time the match rolled around and the season of UF3 had aired, I think it made Ken see that maybe Tito isn't such a bad guy. All the guys on UF3 liked and respected him, and his fighters were dominant. I think Ken finally figured out that all of the hatred just wasn't worth it any more. The beginning of this fight is the only time those two guys have been in the same room without Ken giving Tito the evil eye.

Tito's apology at the end seemed sincere and I don't think he expected Ken to try to bury the hatchet. If he had he wouldn't have flipped him off and walked away like that.

I enjoyed all the fights. Hamil does look extremely sloppy but he also seems to always be in control in the Octagon. I'd like to see him fight some real competition so I can better gauge whether or not he has a future. Can't say I was unhappy seeing Shortfuse lose and I definitely wasn't impressed with Kendals performance. For some reason these TUF guys just don't seem to be in the same category as the UFC alum.

As for Shammy and Ortiz. I'm just glad the whole things over and we can finally see Ortiz move on to some interesting fights.

I wish the ref let it go a bit longer. I would have liked the first UFC death to have been on the free air waves.

I was pretty impressed with kendall. He is very slippery and twisty.

Matt Hamill looked awful. He didn't even try to pass guard. I think he watched too much tito, and thought he could win in full guard like Tito does.

I think the reason Tito was a little rude after was because for a moment it looked like ken was trying to go after tito once he was on his feet, when in truth I think he just wanted to chat with him.
