I am getting the hr20-700 installed tomorrow, barring a last minute cancelation. I currently use the Hr10-250 with locals form DTV not OTA. The wife wants to keep using the Hr10 and I am concerned that I will lose Mpeg2 locals from DTV. You would not want to be in my house tomorrow afternoon if she loses her locals on the HR10. Can someone set me straight on this? Will I still be able to access Mpeg2 locals on the Hr10 from the new dish? I do not use OTA! Thanks you all are a great resource.

Yes, you will still be able to receive your SD MPEG2 locals from the 5LNB (assuming you're going from 3LNB to 5 with the HR20-700) dish on your HR10-250 just as before. If you're in a covered DMA, you should receive those same locals in HD in MPEG4 on your HR20-700 (again assuming you're getting the 5LNB dish installed). Hope this helps

They are only available via OTA antenna. You'll need an mpeg4 receiver/DVR to get them from DTV.

You won't lose them when the new dish is installed.
But you will lose them when DirecTV converts them to MPEG-4 format in 2007
