I knew exactly what was going on when everyone knew who Ted was. I thought it was really well done but since I knew where it was going it dragged on a little long for me. Barney made up for the story dragging though when they found him in the bed. I was also hoping Barney's blog (http://www.cbs.com/primetime/how_i_met_your_mother/barneys_blog/) would have the letter but they instead have something else just as funny.

Overall a good episodes. I was trying to think of a good joke so I could type "yeah I did " but I couldn't so I will just leave it as is.

I did not fully catch on until teh end, but I did think it was really interesting that everyone knew who he was not just the girl and the few peopel they met. I think Marshall threw me a little, but then they showed how his words in the end could fit either scenario.

At first, I was thinking man, they are breaking them up really quickly after las t week. Now I see they are just planting the seeds for long term.

Again, way TMI to be telling your kids. :)

While I was fairly sure Ted wouldn't cheat on Robin, I was suprised how they made it fit. The wording was done very well to work in both situations. Marshall's lines especially threw me.

I'm glad they brought up Robin's relationship issues. Hopefully she'll be able to work through them with Ted.

I thought it was a cute and enjoyable episode, but I don't think there were any genuine lough out loud parts for me.

I think I caught it so quick is because everyone knew his full name and Barney was saying it over and over before they left the bar. It still was a great episode.

I caught on as soon as Robin talked with Marshall. I don't think Ted would have Marshall lie to Robin for him.

I really enjoyed the nod to Field of Dreams. Loved that poor Robin had no clue to the significance of that movie for the male half of the population.

I don't think Ted would have Marshall lie to Robin for him.And if so, Marshall wouldn't be that good at it...

THis was the LOL moment for me. It was priceless when Ted and Robin are telling "their" sides of the fights, and they cut to the guys reactions as he tells of her "Field of Dreams" comments.

My wife mentioned during this scene, "I've never seen all of it." I think I had a similar reaction. And then, of course, we hear that Robin has never seen all of it, either. :D

I'll put this in the season pass alerts as well, but for those of you in the Baltimore area that didn't get to see this because they showed the Ravens game instead, they are airing this Thursday early 1:37am.

I missed the first 10 minutes or so (stupid non-TiVo DVR!) I was a little confused about the whole Field of Dreams commentary, not having seen the beginning. But, as always, Barney saves the show. "I happen to have a form letter here for just such an occassion... I'll just use 'resident' " :D

Then the content of the letter was vintage Barney! Loved it.

I thought the Field of Dreams references were especially poignant to me, because I just found out that my fiancee's hometown is about 30 minutes from the actual Field of Dreams. I told her next time we go to visit her parents, we have to go, and her reaction was "Why, it's just a baseball field in the middle of some corn, who cares?"

I was proud of Ted until the end when I realized it wasn't him the whole time. I didn't see it coming that it was Barney. I figured they would break into the girl's apartment and Ted would be there crying on her shoulder about how much he loved Robin.

I *should* have seen it being Barney coming, but I didn't, they suck me into the story so fast I didn't have time to be a cynic.

I haven't gone back to check, but they're really good aobut multiple flashbacks having the exact same dialog except with different intonations, and I have no doubt this was just as spot on..

The deal in the end about that being his first building and his showing it to the kids when they visited Seattle.. that one got me weepy...(I'm a sucker for a good tear-jerk moment)

You just *know* there's another episode in how that got to be the building they gave the client over the 78 story pink one..

So far they keep impressing me in how intelligently the show is written.

That's some really tall building in Spokane if it can be seen all the way from Seattle :D

This episode was less laugh-out-loud funny than most, but the writing was exceptional. I like that they're dealing with Robin's relationship issues and not just Ted's. I also like how they're letting Marshall and Lily drag on for a bit - they need to be taking some time. Relationships that blow up like theirs did just don't get fixed overnight.

My entry into the prediction pool is that we get a big, poignant, Thanksgiving or Christmas episode in which Marshall and Lily get back together and when they rush to tell Ted and Robin about it they find out that Ted and Robin have broken up.

I think I'm sooo smart, but I never see it coming. I don't know how y'all do it. I guess I need to watch more tv. :D

Good episode.

I'm sorry to hear you had to call off the wedding.

Robin: Hey, if you trim the foliage around the base, it will make it look bigger.

Ted: I know!

Another solid ep. Not as funny as some, but still well-written and acted. Some of my favorite moments:

- The law school party - that was exactly how I remembered the few law school parties that I went to (got married after 1st year, and the parties weren't quite as appealing then). Lots of over-consumption of alcohol accompanied by obnoxious people making absurd legal "analysis" of any real life issue they could think of. The signing of the waiver to get into the party was funny too.

- Really enjoyed the duality of the dialogue that was used to establish the Ted/Barney storyline. I had no idea that Barney was going to be on the bed - and it was Marshall's lines to "Ted" outside the club that cinched it. Although, in retrospect, I should have suspected something was up when "Ted" wanted to go clubbing. Ted hates clubs.

- Kickboxer chick = hot

- I liked Robin realizing what a crappy girlfriend she is, and taking steps to try and rectify it. I also like that the writers are setting up their impending breakup (it has to come - we all know it), but are doing it slowly and not rushing it. Just like they are doing with the inevitable MarshaLily reconciliation.

In college, I remember going to a few parties at some pre-law student's house and they had the waiver form to sign. We would always make up a name when we signed it though.

I liked Barney's one night stand form letter too!

Funniest thing with the form letter was the girl reading all the way to the end and having it signed "Barney"

"Barney?" she says...

Too funny.

*chuckle* I'm impressed I remembered it started with an "S"!

One thing I noticed that no one has mentioned so far is how spot on Barney's impression of Ted was at the beginning. The boy has a knack with mannerisms. I could see Ted doing it exactly that way!

Spokane's tallest building looks like a medium sized condo. That distracted me from the rest of the show.

Once again very funny. The Field of Dream stuff was very funny, and I am going to start telling people I am an architect.

I just HAD to resurrect this thread after seeing this episode rerun recently. Perhaps this should be in the thread awhile back related to "things that got past the censors", though.
Anyone else notice at the party, when "real Ted" was talking to his date, there was an upside-down statue of sorts behind Ted, at the left of the screen; mostly just the legs sticking up in the air were visible, and apparently female in general shape (much more visible in HD than in SD, though - I double-checked both feeds). A hand reaches over from behind Ted, and rubs its bottom, apparently even . . . uh . . . tickling it, shall we say?
