View Full Version : Tivo download problem...
I have a program that was recorded from ESPN2 sitting on my series 2 box, which I connect to via my network over cat 5. The thing is about 2 hours long and the web view shows it to be about 5.05G.
I have tried to download this multiple times and in every case it goes along for hours and when it appears to be getting near the end it bails with a 'can't read from the media/disk sort of error. I'm sorry I don't recall the exact error and it takes a long time to run a test and get it for sure.
So... is there possibly any sort of copy protection on ESPN stuff, or should I just assume the file is broken somehow, even though it plays through just fine?

Do you have enough space on your PC to make that transfer?

And NTFS? Fat32 is limited to 4GB files.

You might also want to see if your PC or your hard disk goes to sleep after a certain amount of time -- I used to get that message when I ran TivoToGo over my wireless network -- my computer would go to sleep and Tivo Desktop would give me a similar error.
Good Luck.

Yes... I have 104G available on that drive right now.
Yes... all NTFS
And...yes, I did think of that and turned off all sleep/hibernate options on the last try. I was actually sitting in front of it when it bailed the last time.
All good thoughts though.

And the _other_ thing, that should probably also be posted in the "slow" thread... downloads now take just *forever*. This 2 hour show that I am trying to download once again is likely going to be at about 5 hours download time. It is 5 gigs, so that should work out to about 1 gig per hour. Seems pretty slow given that this is on a wired connection.

We've covered the easy stuff (available disk space, NTFS, etc.) ... so maybe the exact error message would help.
Yup... but I started the xfer again this AM sometime for some reason unknown to me, it just ran to completion. So it's a bit of a non-issue now because I wasn't able to reproduce the problem this time.
