View Full Version : Recorder cannot display Live TV

My Tivo has suddenly decided that it can't see Live TV and won't record anything. Playback of existing recordings is fine and so is Aux.

I've tried rebooting the Pace STB and Tivo (twice). What's next in the list - has anyone worked out a decent diagnostic set of procedures?

I'd not realised how frightening the thought of life without Tivo would be...

What order did you reboot in? Make sure the STB is on when you turn on tivo.

I also have a vague memory of having daily call set to network causing a problem with this, or was that something else?

the set top box was on the whole time though i've tried rebooting that as well. Dial up could be a problem - theres no phone socket anywhere near my tivo anymore.

You may need to power off the TiVo and power it back on again with the STB already connected and powered up.

Ok - maybe i've had this before. I always forget that a power down reboots Tivo more fully than a reboot from software.

Fingers crossed here. I was hoping to wait until Vista had settled down before considering a MediaCentre

Is the Scart to the TiVo from the STB OK? Try replacing it with another one. Can you see pictures from the STB directly into the TV?

Off at the mains (and then change channels) has sorted it. The MPEG coder chip gets stuck sometimes and a full powerdown is needed to sort it. Thanks to Blindlemon for that reminder.

I really have had "the fear" since last night - there is still no cost-effective replacement in the UK worth looking at.
