I've started experiencing signal problems. It's mainly just on the high def and local channels. I'm pretty sure my cables are ok. My dish has good line of sight, but there is a tree that over hangs the dish. It's not blocking it but is above it. Can this mess up your reception?

What dish setup do you have? Being pretty sure about your cabling isn't good enough. Make sure. You do know that sat signals come from further above than the dish is physically pointing?

During the next couple of days, if it's sunny outside, you can see if those trees are blocking your dish's view of any satellites.

I had some issues, and it ended up being my switch going out.
I had a 3LNB dish, and the switch was screwed into the back of the dish.
(Older style 3LNB)
But switches can go bad.

PS
The signal comes in "much higher" than you think , especially using the arm on the dish as a guide.
Unless you live in the far north, the signal does not come "just over the tree line".
It comes in "higher".
You might want to take a level and a protractor to your dish, and get the level horizontally correct. Put the protractor on it, and then find your elevation setting.
That will tell you more closely then "eyeing" it.
