When I'm watching HD in 16:9, fast-forwarding though the commercials, I just look at the sides and wait for the picture to fill the whole TV. Thanks to all the advertisers who only make ads in 4:3. Maybe it took me so long to figure out since I spent years and years fast forwarding a SAT-T60 on a 4:3 TV set.

I do it, but with more and more HD commercials I sometimes hit 'play' too soon.

I have been doing that for some time, but now FOX and others are starting to run promos and more interstitial stuff in HD, so it's less effective than it once was.

FYI --> FOX promos are all SD widescreen -- their promo dept. doesn't have the ability to output in HD. They're nice upconverts though -- I'd say they could fool 99.99% of people into thinking it was HD. The net rooms however can and do run HD commercials, which come from out-of-house.

What he said.

Use to work perfectly, now I am constantly stopping it on a commercial because the commercial is in HD, or at least widescreen.
