Hi,

I have a line of static or 'noise' going across the very top of non HD channels. This was there even before I had the cable cards installed. It is there wether recorded or live. It is there in any aspect setting except Zoom. This is my second series3 (different problem) and both did the same thing. It is not there on HD channels. it is not there on the pre-recorded clips Tivo sends and it is not there on the Tivo central menu.

Any ideas?

Thanks!

Mike

Mike, that line is data being transmitted along with the picture. It carries stuff like Closed Captioning. Normally, you aren't supposed to see it, as broadcasters usually hide it in the overscan area of the TV. Problem is, the overscan area on modern HD sets is much, much smaller than the old days.

It is not your S3 causing the problem. Call or email the station and let them know about it.

FYI, I saw that using 720P hybrid but using fixed 720P got rid of it.

Mike Try using component input to TV instead of HDMI/DVI. Chances are the noise will go away. As I just reported in another thread some TVs do not overscan on HDMI/DVI input.
