View Full Version : HDCP not enabled?

Just got a 3rd HR10 (bought the floor demo from CC) and never had a HDMI problem before. Searching about that now has become fairly impractical, because there is just so much stuff posted on it.

So, if you'll indulge me, my new box seems to present differing things from time to time in the sys info, alternating between "not connected", "not available" and "HDCP not enabled". Are these indicative of a HDMI problem? I get absolutely no video on HDMI, and have ruled out the cable and the display.

The CSR said that a service download would fix this, but it did not. Still on 3.1, and I will live with bad HDMI if it means I can prevent moving to 6.3a (I pulled the phone plug).

So, those of you who lived through a HDMI problem, what do you think? Is it the box, or is it the download? What do you recommend? TIA.

It is the HDMI daughter board.

The symptoms you have listed are exactly what we have seen since day one.

Basically your HR10 and your TV can not communicate and sync up via the HDMI connection.

You coudl spend the $$ and have a 3rd party repair the daughter board/connection..
Or component.

Am on the verge of upgrading my 'media hub' and will finally be able to use the hdmi port on my HR10. Not being pessimistic, but if it is bad (have had this box for a LONG time) will the fee I have been paying DirecTV for 'insurance' cover it? Just curious....

Well.. they will probably send you an HR20... as I have received plenty of PM's from CSRs that they simply have no more HR10's to replace them with.

It is possible that you can argue to have them credit the account for the costs of a 3rd party repair...

Thanks for the info, Earl (knew I could count on you). That is exactly what I feared, but since this was the last HR10 anywhere at the last brick and mortar within 50 miles, I might have to live with it. Now I'll just have to remember to record "CSI:Miami" and "Criminal Minds" on a different box  . I hope that's not a trend, or Weaknees will start gouging us on the price of a HDMI fix, just like they are now gouging everyone who wants an HR10. Rat bastids!

I suppose there is no quick under-the-hood fix for this.
