I get my Series 3 Tivo hooked up in a week. These questiosn will probably sound REALLY REALLY dumb to most of you, but here goes. I need advice/help.

I have a Panny 42" Plasma. Right now, the TV defaults to full, all the time. So, much of the time I have to switch it to "Just" to avoid any burn in issues, etc. I always put it back to FULL for high def viewing. Its a PITA, because my husband refuses to deal with this, and calls me to switch it, you get the idea. I have read other forums, and have tried having the cable signal "flow" thru or whatever, but no change. I cannot seem to figure out if the adjustment is thru the TV menu or the cable menu.

Will this continue when the Series 3 is running? The biggest complication being that we would have to go back to the TV remote to change the aspect ratio back and forth. Will the cable installer help me with this? I would like TV to default to full for high def and just for other viewing without me manually making the adjustment.

PS thanks to the forum for SO much help! When I bought the Series 3 today, the BB employee was relieved I knew what I was buying, and had no questions for him. I have a Series 2 Tivo, so I am sort of familar with Tivo in general, but I have had plasma TV for only 4 months.

Use a fixed output mode on the S3 with FULL aspect setting, HD channels will display the widescreen signal they receive and SD channels will be stretched to fill the screen. You'll still have black bars on HD channels that showing (upconverted) 4:3 material.

I'm wondering the same thing. The only problem with what vman suggested is that on a panasonic tv, "Just" mode looks better than Full mode because it's a non-linear horizontal stretch on 4:3 content. So I have the output on the TiVo set to 720p hybrid and use the TV for apects. Still haven't figured out how to do it without 2 remotes sitting next to me. But then again, I've only had the S3 for a few days.
