I currently do not own any version of Tivo, but I heard from an S2 owner that the current s2 software allows you pad the end of a show, and when that creates a conflict, it can clip the beginning of the next show to make sure to get the padding requested in the previous recording. Does the S3 do this (sound like a greate feature to me - might push me over the edge to get one!)

Yes. However with dual tuners it will only invoke the clipping feature is both tuners are busy. Otherwise it will simply use the other tuner and record the program complete with padding.

Does anybody know if the new HR10-250 software version has this feature added?

Actually I'm pretty sure it doesn't. I have 6.2 on one of my SD tivo's and there isn't any clipping. I don't expect to have it once my HR10-250s have the 6.3 update.

So then to purposely use clipping (I only have S1s, but could see it being useful for talk shows for example) and more effectively use the tuners, interleave the SPs in the SP manager..
e.g. from top to bottom
Late Show with David Letterman
Tonight Show
Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson (jeez, I originally typed Kilborn! that was long ago now)
Late Show with Conan O'Brien
That way, you can pad both Dave & Jay by a minute (since both slightly go over their allotted time), and still record both shows afterwards.. (All but Letterman, I mostly record for musical guests..)

Yes. The higher priority shows will get tuner preference and the lower ones will get clipped.

I had an interesting experience with the S3. I checked the To Do List, and saw that a movie was going to be recorded from 6:00-7:30 in place of a show from 6:30-7:00. I had accidently put the Wishlist the movie was recording under lower on the Priority List than the show. So, I changed the Priority List to make the show higher, but that made no difference on the To Do List. Curious now, and the service not having expired on my DirecTiVo, I decided to let it ride and see what happened. It began recording the movie at 6:00, then at 6:30 stopped recording the movie and started recording the show. On the Now Playing list under the movie, it said it was a partial recording of 0:00, clipped because a higher-priority show was recorded.
So I guess that's a bug, although a pretty specialized one.

Yes the S3 most certainly supports clipping. One of my shows was clipped just the other day. Works pretty well for me on my S3, just like my S2.
