Jamie Pressly is so awesome. I loved her reaction when the deaf attorney spoke. :D
The bearded girl freaked me out.
Randy's "I know where a frisbee is stuck in a tree" made me laugh out loud

Was that Judy Greer, Kitty from Arrested Development?

Yes it was.
Not the funniest episode but warm hearted,
I'm guessing that Joy storyline will carry on until sweeps.

A below average episode.

What was Joy's comment after she sprayed-on her nylons? I couldn't figure out what she was upset at with the can.
Nice touch with Darnell and the tort comment regarding the tortoise. :)

More of a lots-of-smiles episode than a lots-of-laughs one, but I liked it. I always appreciate Earl for showing storylines and characters you just won't see anywhere else on TV. Definitely points for originality.
Did anyone notice that NBC dubbed out Earl's reference to the Amish in the opening voiceover? "Just like how the Amish chip in to help build a barn..." just had a second of silence in place of the word "Amish". No doubt a reaction to the school shooting this week.

I think it was "Damn, I got Latina"

Randy's inability to stop fondling the bearded-girl's beard was cute - it had me wondering whether they might give Randy a girlfriend ;)

She said:
"Ahww Darn! I got LATINA!"
It was probably a darker shade than she wanted.
Is there really such a thing as "spray-on stockings"?

I got a laugh out loud belly laugh when Joy handed Darnell the rolled up socks: "Put these down your pants in case he's gay." :D

That and his "I'm never going to find anybody to love me" comment had me wondering the same thing.

A good thing about this episode was the creativity. The concept of a tight-knit community where carnival "freaks" live together was not something I would have thought of.
(The homes themselves looked kinda Hobbit-like on the outside.)

I laughed out loud at the dialog that went something like
Earl: "You know where we are?"
Randy: "In a cartoon?"

I liked this episode. Lots of chuckles and I liked the storyline.
Two things:
The deleted reference to the Amish in the opening line. Over-sensitivity on a networks part. The line itself is about the Amish and their ability to come together and raise a barn. This shows their strong community. Why delete it?
The show itself is about "freaks" or those who are not normal. Take the Amish again. They fit this description to a tee. They live outside the modern world, yet will accept anyone from outside into their homes and talk with them. No prejudices. No hatred.
For the record, I am Mennonite, which is closely related to the Amish. So I know a little about what I am talking about.
P.S. I have a relative (my brother's wife's sister) who has a deformation that is basically like lobster boy. Her hands only developed two or three fingers on each hand. She is a wonderful funny person, and I thought that this episode showed that people that are weird looking or different are just like everyone else.

Plus they're not watching Earl, so no way they could be offended ;) Plus they've probably missed out our current culture of offended at everything.

Actually, there is such a place somewhere in Florida. I saw a special on A&E about "Lobster Boy" and he lived in that community.
As an aside, the show said that "Lobster Boy" was quite the ladies' man.
Go figure.

I'm guessing it was less from over-sensitivity and more about not making people think about a horrible tragedy during a sitcom.
Buzzkill evasion isn't necessarily a bad thing.

I actually tried some a few years back--I was shocked by the idea of it, and there were small, sample cans, so...
It made my legs look artificial--Barbie-looking, and it was really hard to wash off. (I had to scrub my legs with a loofah, and it still took a lot of time and effort.) I guess Joy and I won't be sharing beauty secrets anytime soon.

The question is, how far up did she spray ("What thong?").

There was an X-Files episode where they were investigating in basically the same type of community. I think the episode was set in Florida. This episode of Earl made me think about that episode of X-Files immediately.

According to Jamie Pressly, this show was originally pitched to be set in Florida, but it was decided to keep it more generic. Her accent is actually a compilation of several different Southern dialects.

The end of the show was hilarious also, with the old guy at the crab shack who had to use that vocalizer? to speak "What a load of freaks!"
 OK, what happened to the make up department? When he finally jumped into the pool, Earl's chest was hairy, but his nipples were relatvely bald.

Question: Was this supposed to be the first episode? I remember seeing previews for this one before the season started (and was what made me set up a Pass for it. Of course, then the Joy / thief line would probably be off-kilter.
Does it seem like they are trying to do something "different" this season? Last season seemed to have less "something", more 'belly laughs'. Maybe I'm just expecting more now that I'm recording it instead of watching it 'real time'.
