I am trying to isolate my CC issues (aren't we all?!?) and I have a quick question.

In some threads talking about motorola CCs, I notice the Tivo CC menu list sounds different than what I seem to see on mine with the SA CC. Specifically, I don't have a menu item for parity or conditional access (but I do have 3 "reserved" menu items).

Since my CC say they are still waiting for CP Auth, I am trying to figure out if the "resvered" menu items may be the missing ones that just don't show up without the CP auth, or if the menus are different.

Ah, the pleasures of being early adaptors...

Thanks all.

The function of the two are the same but the 'english' in the menus are different. With a SA card in S3 you should only have 3 menus available in the cablecard menu. The other ones are reserved. The three that are there are the CP menu, the diag menu and the host address menu.... im going from memory so the names are approximate. Leave the diag one alone... it does wierd stuff.

WAITING FOR CP AUTH means that you are waiting for the cableco to HIT your cards and enable and provision them. You are currently in Nowheresville...

Thanks for the answer.

The odd thing is that I am getting all my analog channels and my upper tier HD channels (TWC 905-970 including DiscHD) even without the CP Auth.

Are those upper channels you refer to you local area HD's? Those arent encrypted. The Cablecard is only actively engaged when an encrypted channel is tuned. It does nothing when the tuned channel is unencrypted. Aparrently the cablecard will provide the channel mapping list to the S3 whether it is 'Authorized' or not.

Nope, I'm getting the same thing, my pay-for-HDTV tier comes in even with the waiting for auth. These are not the locals, which everyone gets, it's ESPN HD, inHD, inHD2, HDNet, and HD Movie Net.

It's odd, because my downstairs S3 has "CP auth received".
