View Full Version : Flickering TiVo

My Girlfriend phoned me in a panic this evening - a problem with TiVo.

I rushed home (in a move reminscent of rushing to see a dying relative) to find TiVo outputting a flickering, horizontally duplicated image (the duplication was, I presume, due to one field being displayed 'too far over').

I tried putting it into standby but no luck.

The only thing to cure it was a restart (a shame, as I was recording at the time - but the VCR came out of retirement briefly).

It's never done this before and I doubt that it was the HDD. What could have caused it?

Thanks,

Daz

Mine used to do this occasionally, I put it down to an intermittent problem with the video output chip. A restart cured it each time.

(Touch wood it doesn't start again!)

Likewise from time to time I get this.

It won't affect recordings (at least, it doen't here) which still play back fine, even if the recordings are made during this happening.

A restart brings it back into line. I get this from twice a day at worst (rare) to once every two months (rare). Most likely once a month or so.

Only way round it is a restart.

I'm pretty sure that the text was doubled too. It's all better now though :)
