It was delivered this morning and I can't wait to get home and set it up.
I have read, and printed out all the useful threads I can find from this site but I wonder if there's anything else I might need to know?
My system is the Tivo, ordinary Sky box and a Panasonic DVD player/Recorder.
I got the Tivo because I'm fed up of recording to DVD-Ram discs which only hold 6 hours on low quality.
The good thing about the Panasonic is that it works well with Sky's PDC, where I can highlight a program on the SKY epg and it automatically starts the DVD recorder. I understand that this facility does not work with the Tivo, am I right?
I have a TV in my bedroom that works from the sky magic eye, will I still be able to use it? if not what are my alternatives?
I think thats all of it.
Thanks for having the patience to read this post and thanks again if you can help me sort out any of the above.
Cheers

Welcome to the TiVolution and the forum! :)

Correct. TiVo has it's own EPG system and you set recordings from there, with luck you'll never need to go into the Sky EPG again - Yippee

If it connects to the SCART output of the Sky box, then you should be able to attach it to the SCART output of TiVo instead and carry on as now. Someone else will be along shortly who knows instead of me guessing.

If you want the tivo remote to work through the sky eye (tv-link?) then you need to spend £30 on a "tv link plus" to attach at the tivo end.

I've set one up and it works great.

Thanks steveroe & mikerr for your replies.
I started to set it up last night at 7.48pm and it was still housekeeping and downloading etc. something when I went to bed at midnight!
Another question: As I obviously bought it secondhand from someone and it has all their settings etc. is it OK for me to clear, re-start and go through the guide from new? And is there anything else I should do?
Many thanks

Sorry guys, one more thing.
All the channel numbers are out of whack with what I usually have from Sky.
On Sky I have 101 bbc1, 102 bbc2, 103 itv1, 104 ch4, etc. on Tivo I have channels I don't recognise on numbers starting from 58 and going up to 900 or so. Will this be fixed when I re-run the guide?
Thanks again

Yep, I'd choose "Clear and Delete everything" from the system reset menu otherwise Tivo will base it's suggestions on the previous owner's choices of viewing. It'll take a long time to set everything up - good to set running overnight or before you go out to work or whatever.
Then you'll go into preferences and put ticks against the channels you actually receive. The numbers from 101 up are Sky and the ones below 100 are aerial channels which are set up based on your postcode - you can ignore these if you don't use the aerial. Otherwise you'll have to tick the channels that give you the best reception where you are.
Before you ask you can't renumber or rearrange the channels so they appear in numerical order of channel number which can be confusing at first but you soon get out of the way of caring what channel something is on - Tivo just records it and you watch it from "Now Playing"
