I was very excited at the prospect on entering TiVo Land, after managing to get one off eBay. After getting the TiVo all set up, it then spent about 18 hours indexing all the program information. I thought that this might be having trouble so in my infinite wisdom rebooted the box to see if this would help.
Obviously this didn't, so I thought I'd force a daily call - Many daily calls later and I still haven't got the TiVo working. I contacted the TiVo Support number and they suggested testing the box on a phone line without Homechoice and surprise surprise - it worked!!!!
So basically in short I'm wondering if anyone out there, that has Homechoice has got a TiVo to work? Especially with getting the daily phone call to work??
Any tips gratefully received,
Cheers :)

I have resorted to updating TiVo once per week and taking the HomeChoice cable out of the loop for the time the modem is connected.
Dial up always knocks out any BB connection.

Since when?
Doesn't Home Choice have a normal ADSL Filter at some point in the setup and a socket for conventional PSTN phones including a modem cable?
Wouldn't the best bet be to get a Cachecard and start doing the updates by broadband instead?

Thank-you for this...
Have decided to go down the Cachecard route, and am trying to get it sorted right now... But although I have a lot of Windows knowledge my Linux experience is somewhat lacking. I think I've got everything I need but I seem to be having trouble getting my PC to boot from a Linux CD-Rom.. I've copied this file nic_cd_20050218.iso from the Silicondust website, but it doesn't boot....
Any help would be greatly receieved..

the .iso file is a complete CD image as opposed to a file that needs to be on the CD rom. You need to use something like Nero ( http://www.nero.com ) to expand and burn the cd rom from the iso image.
HTH.

Thank-you Alan_m_2004.. That has sorted out that problem...Woohoo!!!
Now Linux - Little bit of a mystery to me - have read instructions on how to install software but when typing in nic_install/nic_install cachecard i get an error - Unable to access mfs..
Any idea's? Do I have to mount the different partitions? and if so when?
Sorry... Think I maybe should have thought about this a bit more before.

As the computer boots Linux you'll see various messages outputted to the screen before you reach the log in / command prompt. You can also use umm... page up page down keys (I think) to scroll through these; I suspect something there will point to the problem, specifically when it's detecting the hard disks about half way through (sorry it's been awhile since I did this myself, I suspect someone more knowledgeable will be along to help).

Not for me :)
I ran Homechoice for a whole year with no problem with TiVos dial-up.
I did have an ADSL filter though.
