Running a DRT-800 with a clean image, the unit now boots up into Tivo.

My goal has been to get YAC's caller ID program running, however that has proved to be difficult.

I thought about getting telnet or ftp running first (and yes have been through every single tutorial that exists with failure). I tried the zipper program , but that apparantly only works with a mod chip, I tried Jenkins, however thats geared towards series one.

I have my HD fired up with MFstools 2.0 as the boot and am looking for help.
I mounted the HD, the CDrom drive, then changed directories to /var/hack
I then copied the contents of the CD (the YAC file in tar format).

following these instructions:

gzip -d yac-0.15-tivo.tar.gz
cpio -H tar -i < yac-0.15-tivo.tar
chmod 777 yac

I get stumped at the second line
where I get "command not found" when running CPIO, any ideas?
I've also tried KSH.

also any EASY way to get telnet running on this pup, that would be appreciated
thanks

1st: you should have simply added to the thread that you already started
http://www.tivocommunity.com/tivo-vb/showthread.php?t=319718

2nd: http://www.tivocommunity.com/tivo-vb/forumdisplay.php?f=7 would be a better place for this.

3rd: Then again because this is about hacking (not upgrading, which is what this forum is for) an even better place for this query would be http://www.tivocommunity.com/tivo-vb/forumdisplay.php?f=8

so 4th ... you cant help me in other words.

But I did help you. I provided you with information on where best to ask for the help you need. When you ask in the correct forum you are much more likely to find the help you're looking for.

Ignoring the help offered as you have done, doesn't nullify it.
