I'm looking to update my kid's RCA DVR40.

I have my old DSR6000 sitting on the shelf with a 120 gb drive in it. Could I use that drive to upgrade the DVR40? And if so, do I need to format the drive first?

I plan on using the directions from weeknees.com for the upgrade. Anything special I need to add since the drive currently resides in the DSR6000?

Thanks in advance.

Just treat the drive as empty, and use the piped mfs backup/restore.

That's what I wanted to hear.

Thank you for the quick response.

So there is no way to take 2 drives out of a dsr6000 and just upgrade the os to usee on a dsr 7000, so I can keep my shows, or is the video and audio stream different.

You can't do that.
The streams are likely the same, but the database would be built for S1, plus the drive would be byteswapped.

I guess my wife better get caught up with her shows, before I do the clear everything, and then load my s2 dsr7000 image .
