Dependability Issue

For the past couple of months, I cannot depend on my TiVo to change channels to record. I've restarted several times. Don't know what to do. It's very disappointing to click on the name of a show in the Now Playing section, only to find TiVo recorded the channel the television had been left on prior to that action.

I have a TiVo Series 2, connected through a digital cable box.
