I have a IC CD and had some issues (http://www.tivocommunity.com/tivo-vb/showthread.php?t=319030)

Is it possible to just take the TiVo image from the IC, so I can use that to put it on the new drive then transfer that to the C drive then do a trransfer from the HD to the new TiVo HD.

I'm tring not to take the working TiVo Hd out to do the upgrade if I don't have to. :rolleyes: ;)

Pretty unclear what you want to do. If you are going to put in a new hard drive what is the problem with removing the old one?

Just the chance of it breaking when upgrading. Then if it didn't work the TiVo would be broke until I fixed it.

I want to take the TiVo Img off the IC. So, I could just have the back-up on the computer hard drive then restore from the back-up.

YOu can take the image from the IC drive. It is in the ./images folder I believe.

So this makes me wonder, I burned the lba boot disk, with Nero Exp. I tried booting the the disk and it booted, it did some checks and had the name Caldera in it. does this mean it is burned properly? When I go to look into the CD, Nero opens, it has no folders it just like the download of the file, is that how it should look like?

I never thought to put the cd in cause I thought it would be like the lba boot disk with no files.

After I boot with the lba boot CD. Can I take that out then put in a CD with the img on?

If so, I should be able to use my Gateway with 1 IDE cable, which has its HD on a SATA connection?

If I was going to do the upgrade

With the CD on Primary slave. The new HD on Primary master

1. boot with lba boot disk

2. Take it out

3. Stick in CD with Image

4. mount /dev/hdb /mnt

5. mfsrestore -s 127 -r 4 -zxpi /mnt/backup.bak /dev/hda

6. wait and prey


Edit : looks like it would take 2 dvds

So on a computer with two IDE cable : computer HD on secondary Master & New TiVo HD on Primary Master

1. copy and paste Image 000001 from IMAGES folder: to desktop

2. boot with lba boot disk

3. mount /dev/hdc1 /mnt

4. mfsrestore -s 127 -r 4 -zxpi /mnt/backup.bak /dev/hda

5. wait then install in the TiVo.

You burnt the disc as a boot disc. You need to burn it as an image.

Well what I burnt had no file )EXT.) of IMG, just file. The only .IMG file on the disk is the
INITRD file in the ISOLINUX folder.

I can't figure out how to copy a image, in NERO Exp Is the whole ISOLINUX folder what should be copied as a Image?

I'm downloading a update which looks like what I needed.

I was at V 6.3, going to V 6.6

fingers crossed. It said there was a HD problem. I kind of hit the HD :( when I was going to shut down the computer. I thought the Clear & Del was no longer needed, which I'm doing right now?

I disabled IDE UDM or something like that in the bios in the other computer, which allow IC to work on the drive.
