View Full Version : IR cable box(es) remote interference

I have two Comcast cable boxes (Motorola). One box goes to my VCR, then to the TV. The other cable box goes to my TIVO, then to the same TV. My problem is with the two Comcast remote controllers (both are Comcast 3-device universal remote controls). BOTH remotes simultaneously control BOTH boxes. In other words, if I am taping something on my VCR through its cable box and I am wanting to change channels on the cable box that plays through the TIVO, the VCR taping will be ruined because its cable box will also change channels. I have read online about this remote and cable box to see if each remote could be somehow assigned to its own box and I can't find anything to show me how to do that. I spoke with Comcast on the phone and they said that all the remotes will work all the boxes, and that there is no changing that. Is there some kind of fix out there that will help me to avoid this problem? Also, the cable boxes are in fairly close proximity to one another and they face the same direction. I would like to say thanks in advance to anyone for their help.
