I've read the threads but have not seen my issue. I have an 80 hour, Series 2 Tivo unit without which, I am lost. I just moved this weekend from an Adelphia area to a Comcast area (though both are now Time Warner Cable)
The Comcast guy would not set up my unit for me (of course) so I did it myself and have the following issues
1) I get a black screen and no Audio when I hit liveTV.
*My Tivo is RCA cabled into the Video 3 slot on my TV which is set up as reciever. I tried a different set of cables in case they were damaged in the move. This is how it was set up before and worked fine. When I hit the TIVO button I can watch recorded shows and do all set up functaionality fine but when I hit Live TV, the screen goes black (no video or audio at all).
QUESTION: Any idea why I can not see anything on live TV and how to fix this?
2) I do not have a IR blaster (didn't need it with Adelphia's box) but from the threads here, I assume the reason I can not change channels with the TIVO remote is that this is missing.
QUESTION: Does the IR blaster also cause the TIVO unit to change channels on the cable box? Right now, if TIVO tries to record a show the TIVO unit information says the correct show and time however, the cable box does not change to that channel. However, and this is really weird, if I manually change the cable box to a channel that TIVO is suppose to record and hit record, I can actually record what that how even though I have no video and the screen is black. So on some level TIVO is capturing from cable but is not manipulating it and is not projecting the image.
I've followed all the instructions in the TIVO manual - and I believe I have set up the unit correctly per their instructions. It is set up like it was in my last place where it worked perfectly. I pulled the new data down for the new system and channels - it grabbed the IP and in all other areas seems to be working.
Can anyone help me - I'm jonesing for my shows and my 4 year old daughter is for hers as well. Thanks in advance for any advice!
