View Full Version : stuck on 'pending restart'

Hi all,
I had my tivo fixed but it seems to now get stuck on 'pending restart' each time it does a call. The only way I can get it to do a new call is to turn the power off which banishes the 'pending restart' message- bit of a pain !
it suggests it needs to restart at 2.00am but never seems to.
grateful for any advice

By 'fixed' do you mean you replaced/reimaged the drive?
This problem will occur when you put software version 2.5.5a on a box that is supposed to have 2.5.5. There's a recent thread about it here (http://www.tivocommunity.com/tivo-vb/showthread.php?p=4369797).

yes - i replaced the drive from 40gb to a 200gb drive and the daily call doesn't seem to be working and it gets stuck with this pending restart message.
the essence from the thread seems to be i need to contact CS and get them to change the software version ?
to be honest I'm pretty green - not sure what reimaged drive entails / means.

What software version does your TiVo report now? (system info screen)
I'll wager it is 2.5.5a....

Hi ,
yes it is 2.5.5a .., i foned up the Tivo guys in scotland and they suggested i would need to change the version on my harddrive.
however the thread suggests that they can send me the previous version of software?
I can still use TIVO but i have to repeat guided set up once or so a fortnight which is a pain .
Do any of you tivo wizzes know a way around it ?

No - just ask TiVo CS to send you the upgrade over the phone.
Then when the software on your box checks the version number coming from the TiVo server they will be the same, so no download will be scheduled. This apparently worked for another poster recently.
