I copied this post from the Tivo support forums, but I am having the same issue with my Series 3. Any thoughts?

"Ok picked up a new DT box to replace one of my other units. Hook it up, update, update, restart etc and finally get everything up and running. Everything works perfectly except the ability to swap tuners with the LiveTV button. I can swap by pushing right to bring up the info bar then down then enter but this is annoying since the single button switch should work.
Now for the odd part:

If I restart the system the LiveTV button will work and swap the tuners. The second I go to my Now Playing List and exit out of there back to Live television the tuners will no longer switch that way. I have to go the long way to do it. Annoying.

I've tried going back in there and exiting different ways and I can't seem to get it to work again without resetting. This has to be a software glitch on my machine as I can't imagine a hardware problem doing this."

Are you using the remote which came with the machine? You're having the opposite problem most people have, it usually doesn't work until you hit the TiVo button.

I've never had any problems w/ my S3 using my S3 remote. Most of the time, I'm using the S3 remote to control my Pioneer box. However, I'll switch remotes if I'm watching a DVD (since the S3 remote doesn't have all the DVD keys on it). After I press the TiVo button on the Pioneer remote, the S3 switches into the behavior you're describing. Pressing the TiVo button on the S3 remote restores the functionality back to the desired behaviour.

I thought I read somewhere that on a reboot, each TiVo box assumes it's using it's original remote that shipped with the, but once it sees a TiVo button, it reconfigures for the actual remote.
