I currently have two already expanded TiVos. A Pioneer 810HS w/ 400GB running ver. 7.3.1 and a Hughes HDVR2 w/ two 300GB drives running ver 6.2.

I'd like to replace the Pioneer unit's drive with a 750GB drive and, since the Hughes unit is starting to show some drive problems, I'd like to replace that unit's two drives with two 500GB drives.

It's been a couple of years since I used PTVUpgrade's $5 disc with MFSZTools to do the upgrades. I've also ready there might be some problems upgrading the Pioneer units with some version of MFSTools.

Here's my questions:
1) What's a good expansion set of tools to use to upgrade my Pioneer and do I need to set any special settings for the 750gb hard drive? I was looking into using the InstantCake utility but saw it uses an older version of the software (7.2) and was cautioning about drives larger than 500gb.

2) On my Hughes unit, since I've already got two expanded drives in the unit, what's the best way to replace those with two new drives? Can I use my old drives and a utility disc, or do I need something like the InstantCake disc to start from scratch?

3) Finally, since I'm redoing the software in these units, I'd like to add support for networking my boxes. Are there any special set of tools I should use while I'm doing the replacement so this is made easier?

I've had great luck expanding 4 TiVos in the past so I'm pretty comfortable. I just know the tools have changed a little in the last two years and am trying to get setup for another successful upgrade.

Thank you for the helpful advice. This forum is always great!
